The "Rosary Society of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin
Mary Church, Saint Hedwig, Texas" was established in 1901. Some
of its main feasts observed are the Annunciation of the BVM in
March and Our Lady of Rosary in October.
The primary objectives of the Society:
To promote the love of God, love of our neighbor, Christian
family life, charity and daily recitation of the Rosary.
To assist the Pastor with daily, weekly and long-term needs of
the church and parish community.
To coordinate the ceremony of May Crowning.
To offer a spiritual support at funerals by
praying rosary on the way to the cemetery and serving refreshments
to the grieving families.
To coordinate a ministry of cleaning the Home of God and provide
needed supplies or equipment.
To assist in maintaining of the grotto and grounds, especially
around the St. John Paul II cross and St. Isidore statue.
To supply and take care of the altar servants' vestments.
To coordinate the Rosary praying before weekend Masses.
To help with the Parish
Feast in April, and also with other projects and activities as needed in the
Parish or requested by Pastor or Pastoral Council.
Installment of New Members
The Rosary Society welcomes with joy new members and installs
them twice a year, at the Annunciation BVM feast in March and
Our Lady of Rosary in October.
The Rosary Society is well known for the Annual Turkey Dinner
that takes place each year on Sunday before Thanksgiving. This
is the primary fundraising activity to support all ministries
and responsibilities of the Society.
This event includes: delicious meal, fresh baked goods, Bingo
with great prizes, a silent auction with a fabulous array of
more than 100 donated items, ranging from gift baskets and
homemade quilts, and many other attractions. The Turkey Dinner
is a kind of Home Coming opportunity for many friends and family
members of our Parish living in surrounding communities.
May The Queen of the Most Holy Rosary intercede special graces
for everyone helping the Rosary Society in its ministry of
serving the Annunciation BVM Parish.
